Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on November
17, 1978 in London (Ontario, Canada) to Sandra Kay (Gale), who works as a nurse
as well as Lance Frederick McAdams who is a trucker/furniture moving driver.
She is English--, Welsh-, Irish-, and Scottish. Rachel started acting at the
age of thirteen. Already, she was performing in Shakespearean plays in summer
theater camp. Rachel graduated with honors from York University with a BFA in
Theater. After her appearance in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson episode (1998),
she starred in Slings and Arrows, a Canadian comedy-drama that follows the
trials and triumphs of an Shakespearean theater group. In 2003, she was awarded
an award called a Gemini award. The role she played in Mean Girls (2004) Regina
George, in Mean Girls (2004) instantly earned her the attention of Hollywood's
most sought-after young actresses. She followed that film with her own starring
role alongside Ryan Gosling in the adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks bestseller
The Notebook (2004) which was a surprising box office popularity and was the
most watched romantic drama of a new young audience of film lovers. McAdams and
Gosling were in love during filming, and continued to stay in touch throughout
2007's middle. McAdams is next in film with comedy Wedding Crashers (2006), the
thriller Red Eye (2004), as well as the holiday-themed drama The Family Stone
((2005)). McAdams also explored independent cinema with Married Life (2007)
which was premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. It also featured Pierce Brosnan
and Chris Cooper along with Patricia Clarkson. The role she played in the
military drama The Lucky Ones (2007) and the newspaper thriller State of Play
(2009) and the romantic comedy The Time Traveler's Wife (2009) followed ,
before she appeared alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in Guy Ritchie's
international blockbuster Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams was the fiery
producer in Morning Glory (2010). McAdams also played Owen Wilson's romantic
fiancee in Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams then returned to the world of
romantic dramas with The Vow (2012) with Channing Tatum. McAdams stars in
Terrence Malick’s To the Wonder (2012) together with Ben Affleck and Noomi
Rapacace in Brian De Palma's action thriller Passion (2012).
